Fall Day '02
Success despite wet weather

In case you didn't notice, it rained last Thursday. Not
that it matters because all the weather in the world couldn't have ruined
our Fall Day festivities. The Moonwalk, Barbque and Tabling that have come
to signify any special event at a Rutgers were moved to the inside of the
student center.
Every table in the room had a giveaway of some kind. From
Psi Chi's fabulous giveaway of a Michael Douglas movie to the Women's Student
Organization's giveaway of Tori Amos tickets, everyone had something to
raffle off. The karate club might have given away half a cinderblock
after one of their members chopped it in half, but the Gleaner hasn't yet
confirmed this.
There was also a caricature artist, a couple of senate candidates,
and a blood drive. Fortunately the three weren't combined.
I would be seriously afraid of a bloody caricature of the Rutgers Student
Senate. Everything that went on was far more wholesome than that.
Speaking of wholesome, it is noteworthy that
there were 4 religious organizations represented on campus, the Jewish
Student Union, Campus Crusade for Christ, the Newman Club and the Muslim
Students Association. This isn't to say that secular organizations
aren't wholesome, indeed there's little that's quite so wholesome as groups
such as Amnesty International, the fraternities, or the Black Student Union.
It's just that fraternities, social justice, and cultural groups were all
at the last spring day, the religious groups seem like a more recent set
of additions. |
